MBC's Mission
MagnoliaPetz.com is a website devoted to artificial life simulation games. We have something of one sort or another for Creatures, Catz, Dogz, Babyz, The Sims, and even an artificial life game of my own. Most of the content was created while I was in middle school and early high school, so parts may look very dated, and downloads are not always available in the most current format.
Our primary focus is on the fan community for the Petz software titles, and visitors looking for petz will know this website as the home of "Magnolia Blossom Cattery," which was started in 1998 and most active in 1999-2001. MBC petz won some of the highest awards available for virtual animals at the time, and you'll have to forgive me if brag on them a bit in addition to archiving all of the stuff that I made for Petz 3.
Please note that MBC is currently inactive. I treasure the knowledge that I gained from my years in the a-life community online --- I had my first experience programming (both Creatures objects and software in C++), working on computer-generated graphics, skinning models and software applicatinons, animating things, writing tutorials, and making webpages. However, I am now moving off in new directions, and I can no longer keep up with the demands of running an active website. Please enjoy the stuff that I've left up here and don't expect your emails to be answered within the year. :)
My current goals for the site...
The content on this site is still useful to people, so it will remain available as long as there is webspace for it. New content will not be added on a regular basis; instead, I'm using this site to train myself in web design. Feedback or constructive criticism is appreciated!
The latest site design was created in June of 2003 and I consider it one of my best to date. Clean and simple, it's designed to look good on a variety of browsers and screen resolutions. It was created using Dreamweaver 4 (Studio MX was in the mail...) on a dual boot Win98/Linux PC and checked for compatibility with multiple browsers.

As part of my attempt to learn from this web design, I am now starting to apply for awards again. I am planning to apply for some that aren't just petz awards, since one of my goals has been to make this site a little less baffling to visitors who wander in from my Homepage or look at it simply for the design.
