What is MBC?
This is a fan website devoted to the computer game Petz --- it's an artificial life game that simulates many breeds of cats and dogs. The games are supported by a thriving online fan community --- this is only the tip of the iceberg! Several other artificial life games are mentioned here as well; this domain name has absorbed content from several older sites of mine.
If you're an established petz fan wanting to know if this site's worth visiting, I'd say yes, but I'm probably biased. ;) See the links above for hexed breeds, downloadable adoptions, and other neat stuff.
After nearly 200 pose shows and several PKC orange shorthair shows, I am sorry to announce that we no longer hold petz shows of any type. See the Show Records page for a listing of all the show results.
You may see the abbreviation "MBC" used to refer to Magnolia Blossom Cattery, the main part of this site. Magnolia Blossom Cattery specifically deals with virtual cats. (In addition to the game Catz, we are now active in the Cyber Cat Association, which provides more of an artistic and scientific challenge.) We have no real cats! None! The whole family's allergic. :(
Who?
MBC is run by Cathy Covington, a college student dual majoring in Art and Computer Science at the University of Georgia. She doesn't have very much time to update this site, but can sometimes be found lurking on the CCA Message Board or the PKC Forum.
Indra,
or MBC's Marmalade Indra, is the tabby cat that you see running around at
the bottom of these pages. She's been our website mascot since she was born
in 1998 in Catz 3. She won the highest title avilable in petz shows
at the time, Supreme Grand Champion, in 1999.
Indra has acquired a life of her own outside of the Petz programs. Indra has been featured in multiple presentations on artificial life that I have given, appeared in the school newspaper next to a review of Petz, learned to dance, become a Sim, and met Babyz. She's now a cyber cat.
