Every time I turn around, another page is gone, replaced with another version of "the petz community has gone too downhill for me to take it anymore, goodbye forever." Why is the petz community going downhill? People are leaving. Why are people leaving? It's going downhill. See a connection?

"Crying on everyone's shoulder, saying you're tired of it all... telling your little tales of woe, saying how you can't go on. Well if it's any consolation, we sometimes feel that way too; later on you'll discover that the black sky is really blue. Whatever you do, don't be discouraged, do you hear the words we say? Something might be coming around the corner, this could be your lucky day." --- Lucky Day, The Stone Coyotes... it's a great song; I think that you can get it in Amazon.com's downloads section. And it's perfect for the petz community right now.

I'm not denying that there are problems, but we won't solve them by complaining. So from now on, I personally resolve not to gripe and whine about any problem in the petz community unless I can propose a solution. I probably won't always succeed; I'm only human after all. I can start now.

Never send an email, post to a message board, or otherwise communicate in anger. One of the greatest things about internet communication is that we usually have time to ---and should --- let our feelings cool before responding. Most of the arguments out there are either misunderstandings (which you'll only make worse by shooting off a quick answer) or trolls (which shouldn't get the satisfaction of making you angry).

Take time to make someone's day a little brighter. If you think their petz are too adorable for words, email them and tell them! It only takes a few seconds of effort to make someone's day!

Be patient with people who don't know as much as you do, and answer their questions willingly. It's been said before, and I'll say it again: we were all newbies once, and we're all still newbies in some areas! I mean, I can remember when I first tried to hex... ummm, yeah... let's not go there ;) ... but really, the community will never grow if we keep stepping on the newest members. It's stupid. It's like a plant trying to hack off its own roots.

I'm sure that we've all heard some version of the story about the man who chose each day to be happy. Life is all about attitude, and so I ask you, Petz Community... will you choose to be angry, bitter, and fragmented, or choose to be happy?

"Take some time and think it over; what we say, you know is true. You might find a four-leaf clover, growing right next to you." ---Lucky Day again :)

Yes! That's it! SMILE! Optimism, people! Optimism! Who cares if the glass is half full or half empty? Just get a refill! *slams fist down on pulpit, gospel choir singing in the background*

Okay, I admit it, I need sleep. Later, petz fans...
