Alek Wolfstone Alek is a werewolf, the younger of Iganna's two brothers and Evania's favorite uncle. Alek is perfectly content with who and what he is and always has been --- it's an unusual state in his family, but it may be one reason that he relates to Evania so well. Alek keeps track of modern trends, but remains enough of a traditional werewolf to catch his own dinner most nights. He's handy enough with a sword that he sometimes serves as a bouncer at his sister's parties. He's also great at catching frisbees. Alek has never married or started a family because one day Iganna scared him half to death by saying "Just think, Alek, one day you could have kids just as cute as my little Eva!" He was introduced in the ELA christmas party thread in 2001 as a genuine Acme Handy Plot Device (TM) but we all grew to love him anyway. The woman was hauling a stack of shopping bags along the crowded sidewalk. She was being followed by a large dog - no, wait, that was a wolf! - who plodded beside her, carrying a couple of bags. "It's 6:00 AM, you maniac," The wolf yawned. "And that's the best time for sales! Come on, Alek," Iganna said, brushing her green hair out of her face. "And stop complaining. You're even too lazy to stay human for this trip." "If I'm going to be dragged off shopping, then I reserve the right to scratch myself in public and bite people," Alek grumbled. Alek leaped onto the sofa and rooted around in the cushions, flinging pillows off left and right. Triumphant, he emerged from the swirl of loose feathers with a remote control, and started chewing on it. The television across the room burst into awareness as his teeth hit the power button. “You’re watching Magical Foods Network! Today on MITHRIL
CHEF: If memory serves me correctly, this challenger worked as a chef
at the Prancing Pony for years before...” “Mph Mni Moofbl?” Alek muttered, a statement that might have emerged as “Isn’t there any football on?” If he’d had a human mouth without a remote control in it. (But then, if he had opposable thumbs, he’d probably have already found the answer to his question...)
