Microsoft .NET Framework is a component of Windows that is required by many newer
software packages.
You can download .NET Framework 2.0 free of charge:
But you may not need to.
Many Windows computers have already received .NET Framework 2.0 through Windows Update.
To check,
look in Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and see if
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is already there.
Or just try running or installing a program that requires .NET Framework.
If you get error messages about MSCOREE.DLL or DOTNETFX.EXE, you need to
install .NET Framework.
No harm will result if you install .NET Framework on a computer that already had it.
If you had the same version, it will not be replaced. If you had a different
version, both versions will coexist on your machine and each will be used by programs
that require it.
.NET Framework does not affect software that does not use it.
