Getting Acquainted with TIPThe Opening WindowWhen you start TIP, it will display its opening window:
Here you will choose what to do. The choices are: Learn about Performance ManagementTIP comes with its own brief training course (About Performance Management) on how to make your employees more effective. Choose this item to view this material. Work with Job DescriptionsChoose this item if you want to create, edit, view, or print a job description. Work with Employee EvaluationsChoose this item if you want to evaluate an employee, view or edit an evaluation that you’ve already created, or add notes to an employee’s evaluation at any time. About TIPDisplays the “About TIP” window, which we’ll get to shortly. QuitJust what it says – this is one way to exit from TIP. The Help WindowThe entire time you’re using TIP, you’ll see another window that looks like this:
The message in this window will change to fit whatever you’re doing at the time. This window never really goes away. When you hide it or close it, it is minimized onto the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, but it doesn’t disappear. To see it again, look at the Windows Taskbar (usually found at the bottom of your screen), and find the button that looks like this:
Simply click on that button to bring the help window back. Sometimes, when it has something important to tell you, the help window will pop up automatically. The “About TIP” WindowIf you choose About TIP on the opening window, the help window, or elsewhere in the help system, you’ll get a window of information about the current version of TIP, like this:
This information will come in handy if you have a problem with TIP and need to contact us for support. We’ll need to know whether you’re running the latest version of TIP. The other information in this window also tells us something about the way your computer is set up. Editing WindowsWhen you tell TIP that you want to work with job descriptions or employee evaluations, you’ll see an editing window that starts out like this...
and then, as you work with data, it will develop into a powerful tool for organizing information, like this: |
